Frelestray generates routes fully automatically from rule sets and publicly available data, mainly from OpenStreetMap. Nobody has walked or checked a generated route beforehand. Routes can therefore contain errors.
A generated route may lead across private property, as well as over closed roads and paths. This happens where the data from OpenStreetMap (https://www.openstreetmap.org) does not mark the paths concerned as such, or where we do not evaluate that information accordingly. Routes can also be dangerous, for example because of dangerous terrain or weather-related hazards, even where those hazards are not expressly indicated along the route (for example by signage). Anyone who simply follows a route without checking it can endanger themselves or infringe the rights of others.
You alone are responsible for complying with laws, signage, closures and the rights of third parties (for example landowners). Check the route before you set off and use your own judgement along the way: the route is a suggestion, not an instruction.
We give no warranty and, to the extent permitted by law, accept no liability for the walkability, safety or legal permissibility of generated routes. The same applies to routes you plan or edit yourself and to all information given along the way (navigation, turn-by-turn directions, elevation profile, opening hours).
